Flats:
South Padre Island is a great place to pick up kiteboarding because of the friendly teaching environment. We teach on the beach called the North Flats that is located 5 miles north from the bridge on the bay side. The Flats is a large beach with no buildings, trees, or obstructions to get in your way. The water is shallow for many miles and is about one meter deep making it less intimidating for those just learning. The water is warm year around. The wind is side off shore which makes learning safe and easy.

Gulf Side:
South Padre Island offers great wave riding and down winders along the Gulf side. It is a more advance riding area. The wind is side to side on shore and typically from the south east making it port tack when you’re riding the waves. On the Gulf side you can take a 5 mile down winder and finish up with a quick taxi ride to do it all over again. We also get North winds which can be nice for those who like starboard tack wave riding.

Holly Beach:
Holly Beach is located near Laguna Vista about 15 miles from South Padre Island. It is an intermediate to advance riding location with on shore winds. The conditions are similar to the flats with shallow waters and steady winds.
