We do all of our lessons on "bow" kites to provide maximum safety and performance. Xlkites instruction is highly hands on - we'll be in the water with you on the coldest winter day! School kites and boards allow you the opportunity to try out the newest equipment from all the leading kiteboard manufacturers. When it's time for your own setup, you'll already have a good idea of what works best for you and can invest wisely, knowing that we'll give you the soundest advice around. You can contact us to on the schedule for a lesson or just ask questions you may have. We teach on your schedule so just contact us and we'll work with you to get you up and riding as soon as possible. We've even been known to give the occassional midnight lesson in order to make it happen. 30 min Kiteboarding Orientation (free)Find out if the sport of kiteboarding is for you or a loved one. Schedule a kiteboarding orientation and learn how everything works and why so many people fall in love with this great sport. We'll go over the kite, board, and harness parts and how they all work together to allow you to kiteboard. The orientation is held at the local shop and should answer any questions or concerns you may have about this wonderful activity. Click here to register. This orientation is about 30-40 min and will get you familiar with what it takes to get into the sport. You will have a basic understanding of how the kite, board, and harness work together to give you the ability to kiteboard and kitesurf.Introductory Kiteboarding LessonsXLKITES offers an introductory kiteboard lesson that will get you familiarized with the concepts of power kiting and under our professional instruction you'll quickly move from the small trainer kites to feeling the thrill of the largest inflatable kites. Bring sunscreen, plenty to drink, and be ready to concentrate on what you're learning - years of experience have shown that learning to fly the kite is the most important part of kiteboarding. The more time spent on this, the better! We teach exclusively on the new bow kites. With their excellent depower systems and responsive relaunching capabilities, we can quickly move students into the shallows of the bay to solidify their skills with kite control exercises and body dragging. Intermediate Kiteboarding LessonsA 3 hour intermediate lesson quickly refreshes your kite skills, reviews body dragging and focuses on riding proficiency. You and your XLKITES instructor will work on getting the board on your feet, diving the kite, and going for your first rides. The time spent learning the nuances of the kite in an introductory lesson will pay off as you can focus your attention on gaining board skills. All beginner and intermediate lessons are $100/hourIncludes instructor, all equipment, down wind rides, full jet-ski support and use for teaching All advanced lessons are taught by actual Pro. All lessons are subject to the weather, but becuase we're in South Padre, we rarely have to worry about too little wind, but some times we have too much for beginners!
